Mankind Awaits The Changes You Will Make.

Getting used to the changes is a good option.
But there is another one. “Making the changes”.
Today, the world might need someone to make the changes.
Mankind.. The world.. Are we saying too much? ..We are not.
With the knowledge and skills you can acquire in this program,
You may help the people who’s facing a variety of social issues
With our the state of the art education and technology,
You may make innovation happen for the health of mankind.
We hope that someday people from this program will make the changes.
The changes that mankind awaits and they all start from here.

PROGRAM

‘Precision medicine,’ proposed in the United States in 2015, has been attracting attention worldwide. Precision medicine aims for optimal treatment at the level of the individual patient by making a genetic analysis of the individual by using cutting-edge technology. However, genetic analysis alone is not sufficient for the treatment of the individual patient, and many diseases are yet to be conquered.
At Kanazawa University, we are applying our expertise in nano-probe microscopy to form the first base of education and research for the creation of innovative disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods through the development of nano control devices and materials that can be carried out systematically across the fields. While aiming to elucidate the universal root cause of illness, we lead in the creation and application of new knowledge in the fields of nano precision medicine/nano precision science and engineering, which can be applied to personalized healthcare. We are aiming to deliver this knowledge to the world and develop human resources that are capable of bringing about innovation in society.
This program targets five types of diseases in humans (cancer, lifestyle diseases, neurological diseases, diseases caused by small particulates, and diseases caused by nanomaterials) to foster technically skilled nano precision medical professionals/medically skilled nano precision science and engineering professionals who can undertake the creation of innovative disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods through nano-level understanding and control.

Admission Policy
The purpose of the WISE program is to nurture knowledge professionals with advanced expertise in nanometrics and equip them with the analytical discernment to understand vital phenomena at a nanoscale; the creativity to lead innovation in precision medicine and engineering; and the practicality to translate research findings into real-world solutions.
The program aims to nurture 2 kinds of professionals:
– Nano-precision medical experts who have high computer literacy
– Nano-precision engineering experts who have a thorough grasp of medical knowledge
…with 3 core competencies:
– The ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, harnessing the all the knowledge of medicine, science, and engineering at hand
– Deep understanding of how frontline healthcare professionals prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions
– The ability to act as a knowledge professional, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds.
Requirements The program is open to students enrolled in any of the 4 graduate schools: Natural Science and Technology, Medical Sciences, Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences, and Frontier Science Initiative. We will select students who embody the following:
– A passion for nanoscience and nanotechnology, combined with basic academic proficiency in science, engineering, medicine, medical science, pharmaceutics, drug discovery, health sciences, and related fields.
– An open mind, creative thinking skills, social skills, integrity, and the drive to find solutions for health problems.
– A keen interest in new research findings or technological development; and a desire to lead innovation in society and create new business opportunities.
– The logical faculties and nuanced thinking necessary to engage in lively discourse, dealing with people of different cultures, nationalities, regions, and academic backgrounds with various ideas.
Requirements for this program
To complete this program, you must satisfy the course completion requirements set by a relevant graduate school and complete the minimum amount of credits required under this program. Students who satisfy these requirements will be awarded a degree which includes a certification of completion.

Each degree includes:
– Notation certifying that the holder has completed the Nano-Precision Medicine, Science, and Technology WISE program
